Battery eating remote

I have installed (2) units to control lighting. Unfortunately, they must have been from separate design iterations. Neither remote will pair with both switches, but I have gotten them to pair with the switch that the each separate remote came with. Problem solved, right? Not exactly. One of the remotes goes through a battery every (2) weeks. It's getting expensive to keep it supplied with a new battery, so i just use the wall switch. Very disappointing. FYI - The other unit works great!
